FAQ for mobile ticketing and App Trenitalia

  • What can I do using Trenitalia app?

    With Trenitalia app you can:

    • buy tickets for your National and regional travel for more travellers, also in combination
    • display and change travels purchased on site
    • check the CartaFRECCIA balance and statement
    • check the status of trains and display the departures board of the station you choose

  • What kind of tickets can I purchase?

    You can purchase tickets for all travel solutions, except for international trains and night trains (bunks, VL).

    You can purchase solutions with a single train or with trains in combination (e.g. various national trains, various regional trains, national + regional trains etc.).

  • How can I purchase the ticket?

    Access the section “Purchase” and select the departure and arrival stations, entering them in the dedicated field or by scrolling the list. With a tap on the star you can choose your favourite stations or cancel the preference. You can also use your recent searches made in chronological order.

    The proposed solutions can be ordered per arrival time and duration and show the best available price and relevant CartaFRECCIA points.

    Go on by tapping on the arrow. Select the offer and the service and enter the data to login. Enter travellers’ data, select and confirm the payment method to complete the purchase. You will receive a mail and a SMS with the purchase data.

  • Where can I see the journeys I purchased?

    Access the section “My travels” to see all the journeys you purchased both on Trenitalia site and by using the app.

    You can tap on the icon of the journey to see the detail and activate, if you want, the options “add to calendar”, “notify me at the station”, “notify me 1 h before departure”.

    If you want to display tickets of journeys you made in the past, use the option “tickets archive” on the side menu.

  • How can I modify my journeys?

    In the section “My travels” you can, if the solution you have chosen allows it, ask for reimbursement or change the date/time of the journey directly using the app.

    To change the ticket, you have to access your private area on Trenitalia site.

  • How can I pay?

    You can pay your tickets by VISA-MASTERCARD, AMEX, American Express and DINERS credit cards or via Paypal.

  • Where can I check if my train is on time?

    Access the section “Train status”. Here you can check the train in real time or display all the trains departing from the station you choose.

  • Where can I check my CartaFRECCIA points balance?

    Access the “CartaFRECCIA” section and display the data of the CartaFRECCIA associated with the relevant statement of account.

  • How can I ask for assistance for the use of the app?

    To ask for assistance, point out a problem or give suggestions, you can use the link “Report an issue”, our experts will answer you as soon as possible. 

  • Can I ask the invoice if I purchase using the app?

    It is not currently possible to ask for the online invoice via app. If you need it, make your purchase on and request it before proceeding to payment.
