How does the Digital Pass work?
To travel with the Digital Pass, you need:
- Your smartphone
- The Rail Planner app
- An internet connection
After receiving your order confirmation and Pass number, you can add your Pass to the Rail Planner app
Step 1: Add your Pass
- Open the Rail Planner app and go to "My Pass". Tap "Add Pass" to start.
- Enter your last name and Pass number. You can find your Pass number in the confirmation email.
Note: You must enter your last name and Pass code exactly as they appear in the confirmation email. These fields are case-sensitive. If you copy and paste the data from the email, be careful not to include extra spaces.
Once you have added the Pass to your device, you will find it at any time under "My Pass".
Step 2: Connect a trip to the Pass
After adding the Pass to the Rail Planner app, connect a trip to the Pass. This will allow you to keep track of all the journeys you plan to take and those you actually complete.
Step 3: Activate the Pass
- Before starting your journey, you must activate your Pass so that it is ready for use. To do this, enter the details of the ID document you are traveling with and specify the start date.
- Enter your passport number or other ID document number. The number entered should match the document you will be traveling with, as ticket inspectors may check it.
- Choose your start date. Your Pass will be valid from the selected day until its expiration date.

Not sure when you will start your trip?
No problem, you can complete this step later. You have until your departure day to activate your Pass. Remember, however, that you cannot board a train until your Pass has been activated, and you need to be online to do so.
Planning to leave later on?
There is no rush; you can activate the Pass up to 11 months after the date of purchase.
Traveling with the Digital Pass
In the Rail Planner app, you can check timetables, find your routes, and see the various connections.
Tap a connection to save it to "My Trip", where you can see an overview of all your travel plans.
When you want to start the journey, tap it to add it to your Pass.
The connection will then appear under "My Pass" as a ticket, so you can show it during ticket inspection on the train.
Step 4: Show your ticket
Each travel day of the Pass is associated with a different ticket, which lists all the journeys added to the Pass for that specific travel day.
You can show your ticket in two simple steps:
- Go to "My Pass"
- Tap "Show Ticket"
The ticket inspector will scan the barcode and verify that the train you are traveling on is included in your Pass. They will also check your personal details and may ask to see your passport or other identification document.
