With the Economy ticket, you may only change the date or time of departure once, up to the departure time of your train, by selecting a journey on the same category of train or service type and then paying any price difference there may be when compared to the originally purchased full Base price.
You can make changes at any station ticket office or the travel agency where you purchased your ticket, by contacting our call centre (premium-rate number) or on this website, provided you purchased your ticket online from www.trenitalia.com (with the exception of tickets for travel on international trains).
To make changes to the departure date/time of an Economy Ticket on this site:
- view the journey you wish to change in your Customer Area or in the section "Manage your ticket"
- select the “Refund/Other changes” option
- select the passengers for whom you wish to make changes and choose the “Change ticket” option
- choose the new date and/or time of departure and click on “continue”
- choose the train you wish to travel on and click “select”
- decide whether or not you wish to choose your seat and click on “continue”
- proceed to pay for your ticket.
The ticket change will be carried out based on the corresponding Base ticket and you will be required to pay any resulting difference. The new ticket will have the same characteristics as the Base ticket.
For the Economy ticket, no refunds shall be granted for journey cancellation nor is access to a train other than the one booked permitted.
The number of seats available is limited and subject to change, according to the day of the week or train in question and the class or level of service. This ticket type cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion or discount, excluding reduced-price fares for children.
