Argento/oro/platino status is achieved by reaching pre-established status point thresholds over the course of a year. Specifically:

  • Argento: 1,000 status points;
  • Oro: 3,000 status points;
  • Platino: 7,500 status points.

Status points refer to points earned with your purchases on Freccia and Eurocity/Euronight trains (for journeys in Italy). Points earned for the following are not considered status points:

  • journeys on trains other than those indicated;
  • 2nd class or standard season tickets;
  • partnership initiatives between Trenitalia and other companies (e.g. points exchanges);
  • bonuses related to any rewards programmes which may be in place.

Remember that only journeys carried out by the cardholder are eligible for collecting points. You can find your qualifying balance in your customer area, which will indicate which status you have achieved.

Have you bought Trenitalia tickets and can't find the related Loyalty Points in your account statement after 3 days?
Here’s what to do to claim your points:

1. You can immediately claim the points within your customer area, by selecting the Claim Missing Points function from the useful links;

2. You can request the points to be credited by filling in the request form.

ATTENTION: points can only be requested if the CartaFreccia Personal Code or at least the name and surname of the cardholder is shown on the ticket.
If the points can be credited according to the Regulations, they will be credited to you as quickly as possible.
Loyalty points for tickets purchased with the “ticketless” option are usually only credited after the date on which the journey takes place.
Points cannot be claimed in the following cases, however:

  • you bought a ticketless ticket and the journey hasn't taken place yet. (ticketless tickets are only credited after the journey)
  • you bought a ticket that is not eligible for the collection of points (e.g. International journeys, mileage-based tickets, etc.)
  • you entered a code for a journey not carried out by the cardholder.
  • you asked for the ticket in question to be refunded.

Only journeys carried out by the cardholder entitle you to collect points.
Remember that in order for the points to be credited, the cardholder must provide Trenitalia with their Personal Code when purchasing the train tickets and make sure that the code shown on the card and their personal information are printed on the ticket.

The indicated procedure must also be followed to request the crediting of "mileage-based" season tickets purchased from retailers not equipped with electronic ticket issuing systems.

If a Cardholder requests a refund for the ticket, the corresponding points will be cancelled.

Points for tickets for which the customer did not provide their personal code at the time of purchase cannot be requested, unless they contain the traveller's name and surname. In this case only, it will be possible to claim the corresponding points directly from your customer area on this website, in the Points Management section, within 30 days of purchasing the ticket. 

The following types of travel tickets do not entitle you to earn points:

  • tickets purchased on board the train
  • mileage-based tickets
  • tickets and season tickets with integrated ticketing between multiple transport operators (e.g. Unico Campania, Metrebus, etc.);
  • season tickets for any period of validity with self-adhesive coupons and one-way tickets with self-adhesive coupons (introduced by Trenitalia on 1 November 2007)
  • promotional offers that can be found on this website or by calling the Trenitalia Call Centre (premium-rate number). 
  • access rights and access cards
  • payments for date changes on trains requiring mandatory reservations
  • regional transport tickets

Please note that if you signed up for the CartaFreccia programme from your smartphone, i.e., from the Trenitalia app or the mobile version of trenitalia.com, you must enter some information in order to claim rewards. Log in to your customer area on this website and add the missing information, then you will be able to claim rewards immediately. 

Reward Tickets
If you have booked a reward journey and haven't received the confirmation email with the PNR, log in to your customer area using the login box at the top right. You can find your reward trips and print receipts in the “My Journeys” section.

If you aren’t able to book a reward ticket, please note that:

  • on some days of the year, it's not possible to claim reward tickets. Check the calendar of restricted dates to make sure your desired date is permitted.
  • the ticket cannot be issued if there are no more seats available on the train you've chosen.

 If you have chosen a class upgrade as a reward, you need to have purchased a ticket at the 2nd class Base fare (Frecciargento or Frecciabianca), Standard or Business (Frecciarossa) with your personal CartaFreccia code shown on the ticket.

CartaFreccia Collection rewards
If you claimed a CartaFreccia Collection reward and it hasn't been delivered after a month, log in to your customer area using the login box at the top right and click on the “CartaFreccia Loyalty Programme Assistance” link. You can describe the issue you're experiencing in the “Rewards” section. Don't forget to specify: the product code of the desired reward, your name and surname, the CartaFreccia code and the date and method used to claim the reward.

Alternatively, call the Trenitalia Call Centre on +39 89 20 21 (premium rate number), choose option 3 “Loyalty Cards” and then option 1.  An operator will be available to check on the status of your claim immediately. 

CartaFreccia is now only digital! You can show it:

  • from your customer area on the mobile version of the website www.trenitalia.com;
  • through the  “Cartafreccia” section on the Trenitalia App;
  • printed on paper from the “Print CartaFreccia” section in your customer area;
  • printed on paper at the Assistance and Ticket Offices/counters in the stations, where present.

If you are a CartaFreccia Argento, Oro or Platino customer, you can access the high speed lounges by showing your CartaFreccia directly from the Trenitalia App.

Earning points is really easy: just enter your personal code before each purchase, making sure that the code is shown on the ticket. The higher the value of the travel ticket purchased, the more points will be credited to you.

Specifically, points for claiming rewards are collected in the following ways:

  • 1 CartaFreccia point for every euro spent purchasing tickets, carnets and season tickets for Frecce and Eurocity/Euronight trains (for journeys in Italy);
  • 1 CartaFreccia point for every euro spent on Eurocity Italy-Switzerland tickets;
  • from activities with our partners.

Remember that only journeys carried out by the cardholder are eligible for collecting points. You will find your points balance in your customer area, which refers to the points that can be used to claim rewards.

You can use the CartaFreccia Collection 2x1 Voucher by following these easy steps:

  • Go to the website www.circuitiperdue.it
  • In the “Access the service” section, click on “Register”.
  • Enter the reward code you received in the email and complete the registration with your details.
  • Registration will be confirmed with an email containing your username and password.
  • Then, go back to the website www.circuitiperdue.it and log in to the “Access the service” section with the username and password received via email.
  • Once you have logged in, you can complete the reward claim by choosing from the facilities available in your city.

Rail rewards can be claimed in the following ways:

  • by calling the Trenitalia Call Centre on +39 89.20.21. The cardholder will give the operator the information needed to prove their identity and they will claim the reward they are interested in; the operator will check their right to the reward and then proceed to allocate it to them;
  • directly on the website www.trenitalia.com or from the Trenitalia App: after logging into the customer area, the registered Cardholder can claim the reward they are interested in based on their points balance. For reward tickets, upon request, an email containing the identification code (PNR code) for collecting the ticket will be sent to the address provided when signing up for the programme.
  • at authorised ticket offices at the stations;
  • at the FrecciaLounges and FrecciaClubs, exclusively for Cardholders who have the right to access these areas, with the help of Trenitalia staff. 

When you purchase train tickets on behalf of multiple people, you will only receive the loyalty points earned on journeys taken by the cardholder.

You can enter the CartaFreccia Collection from your Customer Area on the dedicated section of this website. Alternatively, you can access it directly from the website www.cartafrecciacollection.it with your CartaFreccia login details.

Once you have logged in, you will be able to claim the reward you are interested in based on your points balance. Once you have made your claim, a confirmation email will be sent.

You only need your CartaFreccia code to claim rewards. You can ask for it at the call centre +39 89 20 21 (premium-rate number) or retrieve your user ID and password from your customer area on trenitalia.com, through the retrieve password function. CartaFreccia is now digital only and you don't need to request a duplicate. No, the programme ended in 2010. It is possible to turn your Cartaviaggio into a CartaFreccia and keep the code you have always used. To do this, log in to your customer area, click on ‘Change data’ and fill out the form.

The available points balance is the one used to claim rewards.  

You can check the balance of the points you’ve earned on the App, or on this website, in the Customer Area of the "Check your Points Balance" section.  You can also check your points balance by calling the Trenitalia Call Centre on +39 89 20 21 (premium-rate number), active 24 hours a day, every day. The total points balance and the available points will be shown. The Total Balance is the sum of all points from tickets purchased, even for journeys which have not yet been taken. The Points Balance consists of the sum of points earned for journeys already taken.  

In order to collect points, the CartaFreccia cardholder must always provide Trenitalia with their Card Code when purchasing the train tickets and make sure that the code shown on the card is on the ticket and printout. As such, it is not possible to collect points after purchasing the ticket. However, after making the purchase, it is possible to claim points for Frecce tickets bearing the name and surname of the Cardholder, and for which the CartaFreccia code was omitted at the time of purchase. The customer can retrieve the ticket independently from their Claim Missing Points section in their customer area within 30 days of making the purchase, Points can be claimed only if the name and surname shown on the ticket are identical to those on the CartaFreccia.

The point collection period that began on 1 January 2019 ended on 31 May 2022, with the possibility of claiming rewards until 15 June 2022.

The 2022/26 CartaFreccia Contest began on 1 June 2022 and will end on 31 December 2026, and rewards can be claimed until 31 March 2027. You have until 31 December 2025 to collect status points. 

Here are the main reasons why loyalty points may not be credited and the related solutions:

  • If you didn’t provide your personal code, name and surname at the time of purchase, the loyalty points cannot be recovered.
  • If you didn't provide your personal code at the time of purchase, only your name and surname: the loyalty points can be recovered in your customer area within 30 days of purchase.
  • If you’ve purchased a ticket for a journey that hasn’t taken place yet, no problem: your points will be credited after the day of travel.
  • If you have two simultaneous journeys associated with the same personal code (e.g. tickets for 2 people travelling together, using the same code), the second ticket will not earn loyalty points due to the rule that only journeys taken by the cardholder generate points.
  • If you’ve purchased a ticket that is ineligible for points under the Regulations, no loyalty points can be earned.
  • If you purchased a "mileage-based" season ticket: the loyalty points can be recovered.
