For lovers of nature walks, the route linking Sulmona to L’Aquila is one of the most fascinating in central Italy.

As you head up the Aterno River valley, you’ll come across places that are perfect for a day out in the countryside: from the walking route that starts at Raiano station and crosses the San Venanzio Gorges reaching the mystical Hermitage, to the breathtaking views of the Sirente-Velino Regional Park, not to mention the spectacular Stiffe Caves which can be reached on foot or by bike from S.
