In fact, you can access another train without time limits until midnight on the day of departure, without any penalties.

Free ticket
With CartaFreccia Platino you receive a free reward ticket for each calendar year. Claim your free ticket from your customer area. Travel on the Frecce trains in Standard, 2nd Class, Premium, Business or First Class for just one route on one train. The ticket can be changed once before departure, and can be used by a third party.

Year-round reward tickets
Claim reward tickets without any restrictions throughout the year. Travel whenever you want, without any worries!

Dedicated and free call centre
CartaFreccia Platino holders can use an exclusive dedicated Call Centre service, available every day, 24 hours a day, by contacting the telephone number they receive together with the Card. If you have lost the number, you can retrieve it at FrecciaClubs and FrecciaLounges in the main stations.

On-board purchase
If you didn’t manage to buy your preferred train ticket, you can purchase it directly on board, without paying any penalties (Regional trains are excluded). You must always check availability with the on-board staff and obtain your seat allocation before going onto the train. You also need to present your CartaFreccia Platino.

Meeting Area
On Frecciarossa trains you can access the Meeting Area by presenting your Business ticket and your CartaFreccia Platino.

With CartaFreccia Platino, every journey becomes an exclusive and stress-free experience! 

 

Customers with a CartaFreccia Platino and a Base ticket (and similar, as well as the various types of B2B Base Corporate and Off Corporate fares) or a booking as part of a Carnet journey of any type (excluding season tickets and bookings that are part of season tickets) are entitled to access another train on the national service, with the same route, throughout the day of departure and up to midnight, without any penalty being applied and upon payment of the price difference only, if applicable.
Assigned seating is not guaranteed. The ticket must always state the cardholder’s CartaFreccia Platino number, and they must show their CartaFreccia Platino to the on-board staff (in any format) together with an ID card. 

As part of a promotion, for journeys on Frecce, Intercity and Intercity Notte trains, customers with a CartaFreccia Platino have the possibility to buy a full Base ticket on board the train, without paying any penalties, in case of immediate payment on board. Regional trains are excluded. The customer is required to inform the on-board staff in advance upon boarding the train by presenting their CartaFreccia and an ID card, otherwise they will be considered as not having a ticket and penalised as such.
Assigned seating is not guaranteed and CartaFreccia points will not be credited. 

* Status points are points accrued over the course of a calendar year in relation to the purchase of 1st and 2nd class tickets and all service levels for travel on Freccia trains; 1st and 2nd class tickets for travel on Eurocity and Eurocity Notte trains on Italian routes only; 1st class or business season tickets for Freccia trains. Points earned for journeys on trains other than those indicated, partnership operations between Trenitalia and other companies (e.g. points exchange operations) and bonuses related to any rewards programmes which may be in place are not defined as status points. Status points collected during the course of the calendar year expire on 31 December. Points accumulated in 2025 have been reset to zero, and collection of status points restarted in January 2026. You have until 31 December 2026 to reach or continue with an exclusive status!
