Civitavecchia Express has arrived: travel in comfort from the port to the centre of Rome by train

From April 1st Civitavecchia Express connects Civitavecchia, one of Italy’s largest cruise ports, directly to the heart of the Eternal City.
Civitavecchia Express is the ideal choice for those who don’t have much time to visit Rome’s most famous and fascinating tourist attractions, without having to deal with city traffic or the hassle of finding parking. 


Every morning, two trains leave from Civitavecchia with their final destination being Rome’s main train hub, Termini Station, served by Metro lines A and B, which will take you to some of the most iconic spots in the city in no time, such as the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Rome’s famous, high-end shopping street, Via dei Condotti.

For those wishing to visit Vatican City, Civitavecchia is only one stop from Saint Peter’s station, located just a short walk away from one of the most breathtaking squares in the world.

And for those who wish to immerse themselves in the magnificence of Ancient Rome, all they need do is unboard the train in Ostiense station, not far from the Circus Maximus and the magnificent Colosseum.

For those who wish to immerse themselves in the grandeur of Ancient Rome, simply get off the train at Ostiense station, located close to the Circus Maximus and the magnificent Colosseum.

Return tickets cost just €15 per person, and children under the age of 12 travel free of charge.

Civitavecchia Express timetable has been designed with holidaymakers in mind, by taking cruise ship docking and departure times into account. Remember that every passenger is guaranteed a seat, so don’t delay – purchase your ticket now!

One-way tickets cost €10, whereas return tickets are just €15. Children aged 0 to 4 travel free of charge, while children aged 4 to under 12 travel free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Pets are welcome on board and there is no additional cost for large luggage.

  • From the port to the station with the Civitavecchia Portlink

    Travelling between the port and Civitavecchia railway station has never been easier. From 1 April, passengers will be able to avail of the Civitavecchia Portlink, a new combined train + bus service. Tickets for this service are already available for purchase on all Trenitalia sales channels.

    The shuttle bus service takes you directly from the port to the train station in just a few minutes, making it even easier for you to continue your journey to the capital. All buses leave from Largo della Pace, strategically located a few steps from the entrance to the port.

    Purchase a one-way combined train + bus ticket for only €12 per person, or return train + bus ticket for €19 per person.

    Civitavecchia express + Civitavecchia Portlink

    • Single ticket: €12.00 per person from Rome San Pietro or Rome Ostiense to Civitavecchia port with the Civitavecchia Express
    • Return ticket: €19.00 per person for a return journey from Rome San Pietro or Rome Ostiense to Civitavecchia port with the Civitavecchia Express
       

    Provided they are accompanied by a fare-paying adult, children under the age of 12 are only required to pay the bus fare (€2.00 per journey). Tickets can be purchased directly at CSP sales points in Largo della Pace and at the coffee shop in Civitavecchia railway station.

    The following travel free of charge on the Civitavecchia Portlink service:

    • Children under the age of 3 or less than one metre in height
    • Small dogs (with a muzzle and canine registry certificate), cats and other small pets in an appropriate pet carrier
    • Guide dogs for the visually impaired and partially sighted
    • Luggage with no size limits
       

    All bus and train services have reserved seating for people with reduced mobility. 

    Discounts or reductions on the CSP portion of the fare are not permitted. The Civitavecchia Portlink ticket for the Civitavecchia station – Civitavecchia Port route cannot be purchased separately on Trenitalia ticketing systems or points of sale. Tickets for the Civitavecchia Portlink service can be purchased from all Trenitalia sales channels (on this website, the Trenitalia App, from self-service points at the station and from LisPaga points of sale through Lottomatica, SisalPay and Banca5).

    Regional trains from/to Civitavecchia 

    Frequent rail services also connect Civitavecchia station with other destinations in Lazio, such as Tarquinia and Montalto di Castro, as well as other towns on the Tyrrhenian coast.
