Travellers can obtain a full refund for journey cancellation on tickets that have been purchased regardless of the fare, by submitting a request within the time period indicated in the relevant national provisions for one of the following reasons:
a) due to quarantine, home isolation and for all journeys with arrival or departure in the areas indicated by the provision issued;
b) for journeys scheduled in order to take part in school trips, competitions, demonstrations, events or meetings that have been cancelled, postponed or suspended according to the provisions issued;
c) for journeys planned abroad to areas in which arrival has been prevented or prohibited according to the provisions issued.
For medium and long-distance train services, a full refund will be made using an electronic voucher ( bonus) that can be used within one year. The refund request can be made by filling in the appropriate web form, available on trenitalia.com or at any ticket office.
For regional trains, a full refund will be made in cash. The refund request can be made by filling in the appropriate form or at the ticket offices.
The refund request must be sent within 30 days from the cessation of the situations indicated in points a and b or within 30 days from the departure date for point c.
