Children travel for free!
The Bimbi gratis offer allows children under 15 to travel free of charge and is aimed at family groups of 2 to 5 people (with at least one adult and at least one child under the age of 15) who are travelling together.
The other members of the group pay the Basic price for the train and service used.
You can use this offer to travel in 1st and 2nd class on all Frecciarossa (at Business, Premium and Standard service levels), Frecciargento, Frecciabianca and Intercity trains. The offer does not apply to Night and Executive level trains.
How and where you can purchase the offer ticket
You can purchase the ticket for the offer up to midnight on the second day before train departure on this site, at station ticket offices, authorised travel agencies, self-service stands or by telephoning the Call Centre (pay per call).
To purchase the offer on this site:
- enter the number of passengers (at least 1 adult and 1 child) in the search form;
- identify the trip that interests you and choose the "Bimbi Gratis" offer in the price matrix.
The number of seats available is limited and variable, according to the day of the week, the trains and class or service level. You cannot combine the offer with other offers.
On board the train, at the conductor's request, you must show identification to prove that you are of adult age and a document or self-certification from the child's parent stating its age.
Booking changes and refunds
Changing the booking
It is free to change the date/time of departure once only and up until departure, within the terms of purchase (up to midnight, two days prior to departure). You can do this online, (for tickets purchased online), in authorised ticket offices or travel agencies or by telephoning the Trenitalia Call Centre. If there are not enough seats available for the offer, you can change the ticket by paying the difference for the normal full price.
Changing a ticket
You can change a ticket at no charge once only and up until the train's departure, paying any difference in price, at any train station ticket office or at the travel agency where you purchased the original ticket. For tickets purchased online you can make the change in the Search and change ticket section.
You can request a refund of the ticket fare up until the train's departure with a deduction of 20%.
In the same way you can access another train from one hour before and up to one hour after the departure of the booked train, by paying the difference between the Base price for the train used and the amount already paid plus a penalty of 10 Euro.
