On the issue of increasing levels of service quality, we have placed great importance on security on train journeys, guaranteed through staff training and by a series of procedures created to protect both passengers and staff. Furthermore, the company has created The Security Management System, a relevant service geared towards the prevention of risk and at direct intervention in dangerous situations and accidents. In this area, Trenitalia has proved that it follows the highest international standards being a leader within the European Union for train security.

This year Trenitalia has also defined the "Security Plan" with the aim of achieving the security objectives set out by the Divisions/Units within the security policies in the relative Security Management Manuals.



Security at work is a fundamental principle towards which all activities within Trenitalia S.p.A.are geared.

The company's ultimate aim is to guarantee the maximum quality of service and maximum security to its clients. Preventing risk at work through the commitment of managerial and technical resources is essential to achieving our objectives. The problem of security at work is managed using a dual approach.
Firstly, the company is promoting programmes and activities geared towards managing prevention using technical and organisational terms. Plans have been put in place in this area to adjust plant, machinery and equipment. Plans have also been implemented for environmental management and security in the workplace, in addition to specific tasks to analyse and monitor the key elements of security at work.

Secondly, many company initiatives are focused on personnel. Campaigns aimed at security at work, involving all key company systems, have been organised in 2003 and in the current year for all employees totalling in excess of 32,000. Initiatives to train and provide a deeper understanding of security at work have continued with the aim of spreading a culture of security throughout the company.
