Electrical application

Applicazione elettrica Electrical application
of the photovoltaic panels

The electrical application entails
the study of the interfaces between existing circuits on the rolling stock
and the converter specially designed
for this application.

The converter also guarantees
galvanic insulation from the mains
supply (3kV in direct current)
in the event of any accidental contacts
(i.e. breakage of the 3kV shaped
wire line and its collapse onto
the panels).

The galvanic separation between the
PV panels and the battery circuit and
the consequent transformation of the
energy (in conditions of a maximum
voltage of 80V at 1360 W) into direct
current at 29 V to recharge the
batteries is achieved through the
converter.

MEASUREMENT UNITS:
Voltage = volt [V]
Nominal voltage = [Vn]
Current = ampere [A]
Power = watt [W]
Energy = watt per hour [Wh]
Peak power = peak watt [Wp]
Hour = h

This transforms the energy generated
by the panels, which are naturally
subject to the extremely variable
conditions produced by the movement
of the train - the power generated
varies as a result of the variation
in the incident light.
(Just consider the train moving
quickly from an area of shadow
to one fully illuminated by the sun).
The electric scheme for the electrical applications is as follows.
