Blu Railcard

Services for disabled travellers

The Carta Blu (or "blue card") is reserved to people resident in Italy entitled to mobility allowance as per Italian Law.
Cards are issued by the Disabled assistance centres (or "CAD") and the stations' ticket desks.
The validity of Carta Blu (Blue Card) is five years. If the holder's degree of disability is subject to review, the Card's validity will last for the duration of the disability certification, which in all cases cannot exceed 5 years.
The Card allows holders to buy just one ticket at the normal price for the train used, which is valid for the holder and his/her accompanying companion.
However if travelling on a Eurostar Italia Alta Velocità, Eurostar Italia, Eurostar City, Tbiz or a sleeper or couchette, the companion must also have a service-change ticket paid for at the normal price.

Please note that if you board without a ticket, you will have to pay normal prices. You won't be entitled to the price reductions mentioned above.
Tickets must be shown to the on-board personnel together with the Card and a personnel identification document.

There is no need to produce documentation requesting mobility allowance when renewing Blue Cards marked with a "P", which are issued to those with permanent invalidity.

The Blue Card is valid only on services in Italy and its reductions are not cumulative with others, except for reductions to minors and election voters.

On international trains, sight-impaired or disabled passengers with certification required for services operated in Italy can use the "Disabled" reduced fare, and their accompanying persons can use the "Disabled Companion" reduced fare.
On the trains "Artesia Notte (night)" and on the Salvador Dalì Hotel Train there is provision for a reduced fare only for the accompanying person.
