GENERAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE ELECTIONS
Journeys for voters on 13 and 14 April 2008
For the general and administrative election of 13 and 14 April 2008, reductions for train journeys are provided as follows
Voters resident in Italy:
reduction of 60% on the fares on the fares for Express and Regional trains in both 1st and 2nd class. To use the IC, IC Plus, ICN, ES*, ES* City, AV and T-Biz trains and the couchette or WL service, you must pay the related service change at full price.
Tickets are valid for use for 20 days - the outbound journey cannot be made before 5 April 2008 and the return one after 24 April. For administrative elections only, a ballot round is planned for 27 and 28 April 2008. In this case, the outbound journey cannot be made before 19 April 2008 and the return one after 8 May 2008 - and they must be stamped before beginning the outbound and return journeys The tickets have a time-bound valid from stamping depending on the journey route. Voters who are still travelling when their tickets expire are allowed to continue to the destination station, provided however that they do not make any intermediate stops.
Tickets with seat reservations (ES*, ES* City, AV, T-Biz, IC Plus, and the WL-and couchette services) are valid, within the use period of 20 days, only for the date and train booked on, and must not be stamped;
Election voters resident outside Italy:
reduction of 60% on the Trenitalia section ("Italian Elector/Voter" reduced fare) for outward and return journeys from one of the stations outside Italy to one of the Italian stations served by these trains and back; and reduction of 60% for ongoing journeys from the international train's arrival station to the station of the Electoral constituency and back. Non-Italy-resident voters who do not have the onward journey ticket may buy one in Italy at the ticket desks and travel agencies. Tickets at the "Italy Elector" fare are valid only for the train and date on which they have been booked and must not be stamped before departure.

A ticket to/from Italian border is issued to voters who use the EuroCity (EC) trains connecting Germany with Italy if they buy their tickets at stations and agencies of German Railways (DB) and to voters who use the Euro Night (EN) trains connecting the Netherlands, Germany and Italy if they buy the ticket at stations and agencies of German (DB), Dutch (NS), Swiss (SBB), Danish (DSB) and Polish (PKP) railways. Outbound and return tickets from the Italian border to one of the stations served by the international train and back are issued on board at the reduced international fare of 60%, without application of surtaxes.

The voters discount of 60% does not apply tothe price for solutions in WL, couchettes and any other services on the trains.
Outbound journeys can be made at the most one month before the opening of the polling station. The return journey must be made at most one month after the polling station's closing.
To take advantage of the reductions reserved for voters, you must have:
a valid identity document
document/election card (self-certification is allowed for voters resident in Italy but only for the outbound journey),
for the return journey, the stamp on the voting card from the polling station.

The documents listed above together with the valid ticket, stamped if necessary, be shown to the on-board personnel, who will check them.
Travellers not meeting these requirements will have to pay a fine as per the current rules and regulations..
