The Base ticket for Frecciabianca trains features one price level only, differentiated according to the class of service. On Frecciarossa and Frecciargento trains, however, the Base ticket applies different price levels. The number of seats available for each price level is limited and variable, according to the days of the week, trains and class or type of service. At the time of purchase, the system offers the most advantageous price available for each class or type of service. Children above 4 and not yet turned 15 can take advantage of the child reduction (50% discount on the Base price available at the time of sale in all classes and levels of service for seats, or 30% for couchette services in WL and Excelsior).

On the Frecciarossa and Frecciargento trains, you can change your booking according to the Base price available at the time of the change. The new ticket keeps the price originally paid. If the Base price available is higher than the one originally paid for, you must request the change by paying the price difference (using the "ticket change" feature at the sales points where it is permitted). If the base price available at the time of the change is lower than the one originally paid, the price difference will not be refunded.

Access to another train: for the same journey, it is possible to board another train of the same category directly providing the train staff is informed in advance and a penalty of 10 euros per traveller is paid

  • also after this period should the first available train (of the same or a lower category) for reaching the destination be taken
  • In case of use in a time span other than that allowed, the traveller is considered as having no ticket.

    For a change of class or service or boarding a train of a different category for the same journey, always within the same time span, the difference between the full price fixed for the train/service used and the amount already paid plus the penalty of 10 euros per traveller is due. Ticketless ticket holders are not permitted to board regional trains and international service trains (except for Italy-Switzerland trains for domestic routes): if found to be travelling on these trains, they are considered as having no tickets.

    Refund: possible until the departure time of the booked train with a deduction of 20%.
    After the departure time, the refund is not allowed.

    In the event that the ticket office or issuing agency is closed, the refund can be requested by calling the Call Centre. The ticket issued following a change of date after departure of the train is non-refundable. There is no refund in the event of interrupted travel.Tickets for an amount equal to or less than 10 Euro per traveller are not refunded.

This offer is reserved to Carta Blu holders (individuals with reduced mobility who are entitled to accompanying person or communication allowance). The Card entitles its holder to purchase a single ticket at the full price applicable to the train selected, valid for the holder and the accompanying person. For AV Frecciarossa and Frecciargento, Frecciabianca or Wagon Lits or couchettes services, a single ticket is issued, valid for two people, the amount of which is equal to the price of the requested service in addition to a service change fee at full price.

Refunds: allowed up to the train departure time subject to a 20% deduction. No refunds are allowed after that term.

In case the conditions of the offer are not respected (e.g. one of the two travellers is not present), each traveller has to pay the difference between the amount paid (equal to 50% discount) and the price of a Base one-way ticket plus an extra-charge of EUR 8 per traveller.

Details

10 Journeys book for 1st and 2nd class, valid in both directions on a specific route. The 1st class booklet for AV Frecciarossa trains allows you to book also the Business service and the 2nd class booklet allows you to book also the Standard service.
The booklet is personal and may be purchased only by CartaFreccia holders. If you do not have the card, you may apply for it and use the provisional code to purchase your booklet. It is available for purchase, only with the ticketless option, at ticket desks, travel agencies, at self-service tellers, on this website or calling the Call Centre (service at a charge).
It may be used to make a booking within 180 days from its issuance and for departures within the applicable booking time limits, using the relevant booklet code, at any ticket desk, at the issuing travel agency, at self-service tellers, through our call centre and on this website.

After the 180 days any residual bookings may no longer be used. It is not possible to book lounge seats using these bookings and tickets cannot be used without seat allocation.

Bookings can be used by the Booklet holder only.

Changes to individual bookings are allowed in accordance with times and conditions provided for the Base ticket.

GROUP TRAVEL


Groups travelling together on High Speed ??Frecciarossa and Frecciargento, Frecciabianca, Express, Intercity and Intercity night trains, or in carriage with couchette or bed (excluding Excelsior and Excelsior E4 carriages), can benefit from the group ticket in 1st and 2nd class on all trains and in 1st Business, 2nd Premium and 2nd Standard service levels.

Beneficiaries
Groups of at least 10 people travelling together.

Prices
For ordinary group travel, a discount of 30% is applied in 1st and 2nd class, in 1st Business, 2nd Premium and 2nd Standard service levels and for couchette and WL services. Executive service level and Excelsior carriages are excluded.
Travel for persons accompanying groups is free for every 15 paying passengers with a maximum of 5.
The offer cannot be combined with any other discounts whatsoever, except for that available to young people.
Application of the discount and free travel for person accompanying groups are not valid for certain trains in high-use periods. In this case, all conditions of purchase and use for groups continue to apply.

School groups (School Group Italy)

Beneficiaries
School groups of at least 10 paying persons travelling together, belonging to educational facilities at every level, including universities (undergraduate, postgraduate and master's degree courses), universities for senior citizens and people's universities. They must be in possession of the paper certificate issued by the school or university, indicating travel details and number of components.

Prices
The following concessions apply to school group travel:

- irrespective of the travel report, application of the fixed prices referred to in point 7 of Section 4 - Price list, in 2nd Class, 2nd Standard or with couchette service. In the event that more several successive trains in the same category are used, the price for that category applies only once, while in the event that several trains of different categories with different prices are used, the highest price applies;
- 40% discount for travel made in 1st class, 1st Business, 2nd Premium or with WL service.
This discount also applies if the fixed prices referred to in the previous point are less advantageous.
The offer cannot be combined with other discounts and offers whatsoever, except for those available to young people. In any case, the minimum fares for each category of train remain valid. Executive level service and Excelsior carriages are excluded from the offer.
Travel for persons accompanying groups is free for every 12 paying passengers with a maximum of 5. Application of the discount and free travel for person accompanying groups are not valid for certain trains in high-use periods. In this case, all conditions of purchase and use for groups continue to apply.

Ticket for ordinary and school groups
Group tickets can be purchased at station ticket offices, Trenitalia group offices and authorised travel agencies; in the latter two cases, also in ticketless mode. Payment at Trenitalia group offices can also be made using bank transfer.
The ticket is issued for all types of train, with simultaneous assignment of seat included in the price. The ticket is nominative and contains the details of the group leader. Each member of the group must be in possession of the individual countermark issued at the time of ticket issue or, alternatively, the group leader must have a list of all participants (this list is mandatory when travelling in WL and couchettes). In the case of tickets issued in ticketless mode, the group leader must have a list of participants for presentation during travel, and each group member must have a copy of the payment receipt sent by e-mail to the group leader.
In all cases, both the group leader and each member of the group must carry a personal identity document.
The group organiser is jointly responsible with the travellers for any sums due to Trenitalia in case of irregularities and abuse.

Purchase option
In addition to the possibility of reserving seats by arranging for the immediate purchase of tickets, it is possible to exercise the purchase option, with the same advance as for the purchase of the ticket with simultaneous assignment of seat referred to in point 2 of Section 1 and until midnight on the fifth day before departure of the train concerned, on payment of the amount of 5.00 euro for each member of the group. Until midnight on the thirtieth day before the departure of the booked train, you can change the reservation and the number of participants (in the case of an increase, payment of an additional 5.00 euro will be due for each additional member; in the case of a decrease, cancellation does not carry a penalty for the seat given up). For seats given up from the twenty-ninth to the fifth day before departure, no refund of amounts paid for the purchase option is allowed and the option must be confirmed by the payment of the balance before the fifth day before departure to avoid making reserved seats available.

Terms of use

Booking change
A booking change is only allowed once from the day of issue up to one hour after departure of the booked train.
The request must be made before departure time at any ticket office, group office or travel agency; after this deadline it may only be made at the ticket office and group office located in the departure station of the train indicated on the ticket.
Unless otherwise provided for, point 4 of Section 1 applies.

Ticket change
A ticket change (including change of name) is allowed once up to midnight of the fifth day before the departure of the booked train according to the provisions of point 5 of Section 1 if, in the opinion of Trenitalia, it is considered compatible with the availability of seats and with the transport needs of the company.

Refund
For full refund due to failure to undertake all or part of travel for reasons attributable to Trenitalia, the provisions of point 9.1. of Section 1 apply.
Refunds due to traveller's needs are allowed, with a 20% deduction for each traveller, provided that the request for total or partial waiver is submitted up to midnight on the fifth day before train departure time. After that time, no refund is payable.
For how to request a refund, the provisions of point 9.2.1. of Section 1 apply.

Irregularities
A group leader or single group member found to be travelling without an identity document is subject to payment of the penalty provided for in letter b) of point 2 of Section 4 - Price list. In the case of use of the couchette, WL, Excelsior or Excelsior E4 service, the penalty provided for in letter a1) of point 2 of Section 4 - Price list is due in place of that provided for in letter b) of the same point. For all other regularisations, the provisions of point 6 of Section 1 apply.

GLOBAL PASS

This ticket is available for purchase only to international Pass holders and holders of national Passes for foreign customers (Eurail Global Pass, Eurail Select Pass, Eurail Regional Pass (France-Italy Pass, Greece-Italy Pass, Italy-Spain Pass, Eurail Italy Pass, InterRail Global, InterRail Italy Pass) to travel on AV, ES* and Frecciabianca trains or using the couchettes and WL services.


Global Pass tickets are subject to the conditions of use of the Base ticket. Global Pass tickets cannot be issued without seat allocation. Ticket

It may be purchased up to the departure of the first train selected for your journey, at ticket desks at stations, authorised travel agencies, self-service tellers, on this website and by contacting our Call Centre (service at a charge).

Special prices are not subject to further deductions, with the exception of children discounts.

In order to travel both on night and AV trains you must have a valid identification document (matching the name printed on the night ticket for couchettes and WL services). The name on the first train used (night train or AV train) may be changed subject to a surcharge of 8 ? (in this case, you will be required to produce also on the following train the ticket issued for the regularization).

No limitations apply to the number of seats available. Tickets cannot be issued without seat allocation.
